History

In 1991 Stephen Boyd established his physiotherapy practice on Wickham Terrace in Brisbane. Since then he has provided outpatient clinical services as well as inpatient physiotherapy care at the Brisbane Private Hospital, previously the Holy Spirit Hospital.

Stephen Boyd Physiotherapy expanded in 2003, taking over Ascot Physiotherapy Centre, which had been operating for more than twenty years. Together the practices now employ a large team of physiotherapy, massage, and support staff.

Under the banner of Positive Movement, the clinics have evolved and are known today as “Boyd Physiotherapy” and “Ascot Physiotherapy”.

Boyd Physiotherapy:

Based at the Brisbane Private Hospital, Boyd Physiotherapy is the hub of the Positive Movement services. As well as in-hospital care, here we also provide you with outpatient physiotherapy.

Pre-operative and post-operative assessment and treatment of orthopaedic and spinal outpatients is performed in the clinic, often co-ordinated with your treating specialist’s visit.

Outpatient clinical physiotherapy is available at all times during the week.

There is paid parking under the specialist centre behind the Brisbane Private Hospital (via Birley Street). This car park is in high demand and at times can be full.

Alternative car parks are nearby; the closest is Wilson Car Park at Morris Towers in Bartley Street off Wickham Terrace. Limited metered street parking is also available.

Public transport includes the free Spring Hill Loop bus; and trains stop at Central Station (450m) or Roma Street Station (600m).

Boyd Physiotherapy opening hours:

  • Monday to Friday:  8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Ascot Physiotherapy:

Ascot Physiotherapy offers both physiotherapy and massage services on site.

For those in the local area unable to come to us, the treating clinician may consider a home visit appropriate.

The clinic is on Racecourse Road, and entry is at street level.

There is limited free off-street parking behind the clinic, as well as on-street parking.

Ascot train station is a 5 minute walk; or we’re a 15-minute walk from the City Cat terminal at Brett’s Wharf.

Ascot Physiotherapy opening hours:

  • Monday to Friday:  8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Saturday:  8 a.m. – 12 noon

Early and late appointments can be arranged for you, on request.
